Oppi 2024 - Paris

Celebrating 10 years of global education community Oppi

Continuing my collaboration work with the global education community Oppi, this year was a celebration of 10 years of Oppi, and took place back in a beautiful château outside of Paris. Co-founders Claudia Barwell and Darina Garland take us through the journey of Oppi and how it came to be. This film also focuses on the impacts that Oppi has had outside of the time spent together each year, and explores some of the collaborations and projects that have come out of connections made within the community, or from conversations that started at Oppi. We hear about Caroline Essame’s Nature and the Brain project supported by Oppi Challenge, Troy Davis’s collaboration with Steven Chan and Daniel Emmerson at Goodnotes who sketched out their new foundation Good Future Foundation on the train back from Oppi Paris 2023, Alex Bell and Rachel Tomlinson discuss YESfest, official Oppi Choir leader Rachel Staunton talks about the impact for her charity London Youth Choir, Greg Klerkx explains his career shift with Climate Shift, Jigyasa Labroo speaks on her collaboration with Greg around this and the impact it’s had on her work for her non-profit Slam Out Loud, and Andrea Carr talks about the special magic Oppi creates in bringing together entrepreneurs and those on the front line of education and policy making. We also get a glimpse of Mark Moorhouse’s D6 project and Mike Bond’s The Magic 8, both supported by Oppi Challenge.

A huge thanks to everyone who gave their time to speak with me about their work, as is consistent for the mountain of wisdom at Oppi, there was tons of magic and insight left on the cutting room floor. And as always, the hugest of respect and gratitude to Claudia Barwell who holds and helms the community so beautifully.
